Where can I find a good winter coat / jacket and a good pair of boots near Burlington, Ontario? ?

I live in Oakville / Burlington at the Canadian border. What kind of boots do you recommend for the winter? Last winter I bought a pair of boots in the bay, and they did absolutely nothing for me. What would you recommend? Do you think that UGG boots would do very well in winter in Canada?
